Bring Me to Life

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?
Leading you down into my core where I’ve become so numb
Without a soul, my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home

I’ve been browsing YouTube for a video that best captures what this song means to me. I’ve found anime, tributes to movies, and suicide recovery videos — all set to this song. While I have yet to find a perfect fit to the picture in my head, this one comes fairly close — for me this song is about new spiritual life in Christ.

  1. The part of the song that the person who made the video left out:
“All this time, I can’t believe I couldn’t see/Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me/I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems/Got to open my eyes to everything.” I think that’s one of the best parts, but it’s kind of harder to hear them saying it in the song. I love this song, I love this post and I love you! Oh, and btw, Evanescence, as the Fray, started out doing Christian music (I believe, but don’t quote me on that).

  2. I like that part, too. I wish they had included it but thank you for doing that. For me it was between this video and another one that included scenes from The Passion of the Christ (which was powerful but a little too graphic for my frame of mind right now).

I like this idea of waking up “Got to open my eyes to everything” — it can be both a one-time thing and an ongoing process, strangely enough. It takes effort to avoid getting sucking into the physical world so much, where that’s all that we can see.

I love you my sis! Thanks for commenting. 🙂
