Can our favorite stories help us cope with AI anxiety? Can they inspire us to stand up for all that is human?

Because let’s face it: AI isn’t going anywhere. We’re stuck on this ride until it stops. The good news is that it’s a global problem – we’re all in it together. The bad news is that our governments and politicians are treating it like a war. And perhaps it is a war. 

But while they squabble along party lines and across borders, the regular citizens among us are trying to make sense of what is clearly a world-changing phenomenon. Society is trying to cope. 

This is a time to adapt. To process. 

And maybe also a time to lean on the power of storytelling. 

Of course, the Terminator films immediately come to mind. But there are others. So many others! 

Avengers: Age of Ultron. WarGames. Lord of the Rings.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (Actually, any of the Star Wars movies. Those are in a category of their own, with great parallels to the digital structure around us.)

What else should I add to our list? Because in this new AI era, I have a theory that we need our stories more than ever.

Our lives may depend on it.
